XXX General Assembly

The XXX General Assembly took place in Brussels, on the 26th of November 2021.
It was the first in-person meeting since the breakout of the pandemic in 2019. The people who could not attend the meeting, joined us online.
On this occasion, ELRA welcomed representatives from other EU associations like IPRA-CINDER and had the chance to count with the participation of the DG Justice of the European Commission. The Land Registry System of Hungary, participated for the first time in the GA to show its interest in ELRA.
After internal discussions, we introduced the assembly with a presentation about the role of Land Registry in the challenges of the 21st century by Alasdair Lewis, Member of the scientific committee IPRA-CINDER and former ELRA President
Discussions focused around two main topics: “Digitalization of Justice: State of play” and “European Digital Identity”.
The first panel was moderated by Elena Ioriatti Professor of Comparative Law at University of Trento. Miguel Angel Roman, Co-funder of IA institute, presented “What does the technique provide now?”. It was followed by a presentation of Mathias Tomaszewski from DG Justice, who explained the vision and impacts of digitalization. To end the discussion, Bettina Mark Bastholm from The Land Registration Court of Denmark, explained what digitalization means for the land registry area.
The second panel was moderated by Rafael Vale e Reis, assistant Prof Faculty of Law at University of Coimbra. He introduced the European digital identity topic, and it was followed by a presentation about the challenge it implies for legal professionals, by the Distinguished Prof José Tribolet at University of Lisbon and “the land registry implementation” by Neoclis Neocleous, Chief Land Officer of Cyprus.
In the afternoon, Jacques Vos as a representative of the Dutch Kadaster, talked about the reforms developed in Duth Land Registry and we finished the day with a short introduction to the Land Registry System of Hungary, by Dr Balazs Toth, Head of the General Department of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Finally, the new Board of Directors was nominated for the next two years period.
