Letter from the new President, Mihai Taus
December 1, 2023 / Explotación
Dear friends and colleagues,
It is a great honor for me, and I am very grateful for the trust you have awarded me.
This position as new President comes with a profound sense of responsibility, and I hope I will raise my performance, at least as high as standards established by my predecessors.
I know it is a time for change and for evolution in the Land Registry, but this change shall come as a continuation and with the preservation of the principles which have always governed efficient Land Registry.
We shall embrace with high responsibility the new technological achievements and the new roles land registry might play, bearing in mind that Land Registry has always played a pivotal role and it was always situated in a point of confluence for many other adjacent systems. Artificial intelligence, digitization is shaping the way land registry evolves and we have to ensure a proper understanding mechanisms in the implementations of new technologies.
Therefore, ELRA shall cultivate strong partnerships with all related organisations which aim to the same values such as public interest and legal certainty. IMOLA will continue to develop to its full potential.
As it is already proven, ELRA has always been a trustworthy partner and I would be honored to continue our very good relations and to find new connections. ELRA will always be opened to a constructive dialog and will play an active role in promoting the benefits of a good management of land registry, with full respect to national legislations.
Even from the beginning ELRA has found the right balance between the professionals and the academics. This is one of the keys to success, because both are complementary parts of an integral approach. I have my personal experience with students dealing with a practical approach to some theoretical concepts the have been taught, and I will never forget their great revelation when they saw how those concepts work in real life. So, I would like to enhance this kind of cooperations and to develop new ways to address to both present and future professionals and academics. This is the right way to contribute to better legislations and better public policies involving Land Registry.
Thinking of the future and the outcomes of previous studies we should consider how ELRA can contribute in training land registrars in the European legislation or other related topics.
My tasks as a President are easier, due to the great Board of Directors we have. However, we are just your ephemeral representatives, and we count on your involvement. Your ideas will aways be welcome and please do not hesitate to speak freely about of any topic you might consider to be relevant. It is a part of ELRA’s culture to listen and to have an inclusive approach.
I would like to thank you once again for this honor and I would like to express my gratitude to my colleagues – the Romanian land registrars who have always supported my activity in ELRA. I would also like to thank to my dear friend Luisa, the former president, for her professional legacy and the high performance of her and her team in the previous mandate. We have to appreciate the great people who brought ELRA to this level of and, therefore, I will conclude my speech with Jesus Camy’s closing words: TEAM UP TOGETHER!
