A keynote speaker of the CROBECO II conference was Prof. Dr. Arruñada from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, who presented a cost/benefit analysis of CROBECO. His conclusions were:

Hosted by the Colegio de Registradores de España, the XIX ELRA General Assembly took place in Barcelona on 16th May 2014.

On 15th May 2014, the European Land Registry Association (ELRA) organized a conference on Cross-Border Electronic Conveyancing. The conference was part of a project, known as CROBECO, aiming to enforce the recovery of foreign real estate investment in southern European countries.

In the field of digitization, Netherlands should be the top in Europe, these were the words of Dutch Minister of Security and Justice Mr. Opstelten at the European e-Justice Congress in the Hague on 27th of March 2014. Chairman Pieter Cloo, Secretary General of this Ministry asked all participants to join him on this road to the top.

On 24th Octobre, at the conference on e- Justice challenges in Vilnius, Lithuania announced that they will start participating in the Crobeco project.

On 8th July English Notary Mr Andrew Johnston submitted the first English CROBECO contract in Mijas 1 (Spain)

ELRA stands for European Land Registry Association. It is a nonprofit association set up in 2004 by 12 European land registry organizations and currently made up of 30 members, public sector entities administering Land Registries and professional associations of registrars, in 23 Member States. ELRA is seated in Brussels.

In times when techniques are rapidly advancing, the need to reduce administrative burdens – especially in times of financial crises – is becoming a priority. Public authorities try to find a ways to cut costs. It is important that lawyers help to recover the real estate market by improving confidence and cut costs where and when possible. Therefore, the transfer of ownership and mortgaging an immovable should be as efficiently as possible, both in a Member State and cross-border.

Chaired by ELRA President, Alasdair Lewis, the XVIII ELRA General Assembly took place in Brussels on 10th December 2013 at the Scotland House offices.
